Adam Rainey

Mr. Rainey was a member of the Kormendi \ Gardner Partners team from 2004 through 2008 before leaving to attend the M.B.A. program at the Stern School of Business at New York University. While at KGP, he worked on all financial advisory, investment banking and private equity engagements including the structuring and launch of a private equity fund (the Fairbanks Investment Fund); quantitative modeling services for the analysis of a $150 million sale of an investment stake in a European textile manufacturer/retailer; and the design of an innovative solution for estimating investor dilution and determining distribution payments to variable annuity policy holders in connection with KGP’s Independent Distribution Consultant engagement for the SEC. In addition and as part of KGP’s litigation support team, Mr. Rainey worked on several “Winstar” cases developing valuation models for certain intangible assets acquired by large U.S. banks via the purchase of thrift institutions. He was also responsible for creating cash flow, solvency and valuation models in connection with KGP’s work on the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) et al. v. Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP case, one of the largest non-profit bankruptcies in U.S. history.

Before joining KGP, Mr. Rainey was a Corporate Finance Analyst with Novus Consulting Group, Inc. where he worked with the Chief Financial Officer on asset valuation, cash flow and liquidity analysis, and the evaluation of corporate investments and acquisition offers. Mr. Rainey completed the Summer Analyst program in Smith Barney’s Investment Banking Group (currently Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking) in New York and also conducted quantitative equity research for Legg Mason as a Research Assistant to the firm’s Chief Market Strategist.

Mr. Rainey supports KGP on private equity, investment banking and financial advisory engagements, providing quantitative financial analytics. His responsibilities include quantitative modeling in asset valuation and financial analysis, economic analysis and capital market research. 

Mr. Rainey is currently working toward an M.B.A. in Quantitative Finance at the Stern School of Business at NYU and holds a B.B.A. in Finance and Financial Economics from James Madison University. He is a member of both the International Association of Financial Engineers and the Society of Quantitative Analysts.
